Maison Charnwood
Westmount

This family in Westmount had a lower level that everyone walked past. It was not broken. It was not unfinished. It was just never given a reason to exist. They came to us and said something we hear more than people realize we want a room that makes us want to stay home. Not a room that looks good in photos. A room that pulls the family toward it on a Friday night without anyone having to suggest it. We designed the whole space around that one sentence.

This is what interior design in Westmount does when it starts with the right question. And this is the standard that our interior designer Westmount brings to every project in the region.

A Complete Basement Transformation in Westmount

Maison Charnwood is a complete basement renovation designed by MK Imperium in Westmount, Montreal. The objective was to transform an underused lower level into a sophisticated space dedicated to entertaining, relaxation and everyday family living.
MK Imperium redesigned the entire basement, creating a cohesive environment that connects a custom entertaining bar, dedicated wine storage and a comfortable family lounge. The striking stone-clad bar serves as a central feature, complemented by custom wood cabinetry, open metal wine displays, upholstered seating and sculptural lighting. In the adjoining lounge, a contemporary fireplace, integrated shelving, warm wood finishes and layered textures establish a welcoming atmosphere.

Every element was considered as part of the overall design, allowing the different areas to feel connected while maintaining their individual functions.
How Maison Charnwood Demonstrates MK Imperium's Westmount Expertise
Renovating an existing home in Westmount presents opportunities to rethink how its interior spaces are used.

Maison Charnwood demonstrates MK Imperium's ability to transform an entire basement through thoughtful space planning, custom millwork, architectural detailing and carefully coordinated materials.
Rather than treating the lower level as secondary living space, the design gives it a distinct purpose within the home.

For Westmount homeowners considering a basement renovation, custom entertainment area or complete residential redesign, Maison Charnwood provides a tangible example of MK Imperium's approach to creating sophisticated interiors that balance functionality, comfort and architectural character.

The result is more than a renovated basement—it's an entirely new living experience within the existing home.
