2023 has many great things ahead, especially in interior design. Here are some expected trends this coming year!

1. M I X O F E R A S

Mixing pieces from the past and present is a trend that’s going be big in 2023.

“A home that incorporates pieces from the past makes for a well-designed and thoughtful space,” explained Tracee Murphy of Trade Mark Interiors in Sarasota, Florida. Mixing unique vintage pieces with a modern design is a sure way to bring warmth into a home, bring the past and present together.

Creating a soft look using curved shapes runs with the theme of 2023 to bring back a home-feeling to our homes. The sun shining through large windows bounces off delicately from curved furniture like this sectional from ROVE Concepts, creating a perfect atmosphere of rest and style in a home. Expect to see a come back in arched walls, this arched mirror from Bouclair and feature walls with arched designs. A perfect balance of fresh and contemporary.

3. F A R M H O U S E S T Y L E

Wood is an indispensable design feature in farm house style, which is what brings the earthy warm tones. Plan to see more decorative uses with wood in everyday designs, like this mirror from Bouclair , this sink from Lowes, and so on. Expect to see large counter lights, with a brass or distressed look to complement wood details in a kitchen. Rustic-based dusk to dawn lighting and LED fixtures will become more prevalent in line with sustainability practices.

Over the past few years, the pandemic has brought change to what people desire to feel in their homes, now that they spend way more time indoors. People are starting to have strong desires for privacy and quiet times, which is why a prediction in 2023 design styles is to bring back closed and separated rooms. This phenomena is seeing more intentionally assigned areas for specific uses, instead of the open floor common area that has been popular for years.
